Short answer: Angi puts the average soffit replacement at $2,300 in Florida, and its national range for soffit and fascia repair is $300 to $7,200. By the foot, HomeGuide's national figures are $4 to $22 per linear foot for soffit, $5 to $12 for fascia and $9 to $34 for both together.
We couldn't find a Tampa Bay price page for this work, so apart from Angi's Florida average, the figures below are national. They're typical ranges, not quotes.

Soffit and fascia cost by material
Angi's national repair figures by material:
| Material | Fascia repair, per linear foot | Soffit repair, per 12-foot section |
|---|---|---|
| Wood | $1–$3 | $12–$36 |
| Vinyl | $5–$8 | $60–$96 |
| Composite | $2–$8 | $24–$96 |
| Aluminum | $8–$20 | $96–$240 |
What drives the price
- Linear feet and access. Angi's soffit replacement guide says second-story work runs 10% to 15% higher, and removing and disposing of old material adds $1 to $4 per linear foot.
- Rot behind the trim. Angi lists dry rot repair at $500 to $4,000. HomeGuide lists rafter tail and rotted eave repair at $650 to $4,000.
- Material. Aluminum costs the most to repair per foot in Angi's figures; wood the least.
- Roof work. If the roof covering, deck or drip edge is damaged too, a licensed roofing contractor's work is added to the job.
- Permits. Angi lists permits at $100 to $500 nationally when soffit replacement is part of a full roof replacement. See below for Pinellas County.
Soffit damage from wind
FEMA's advisory after Hurricane Michael says soffits "have historically performed poorly in hurricanes and are commonly damaged in high-wind events," and "When soffits fail, the result is often significant water intrusion." That's why a soffit repair after a storm often comes with a ceiling or insulation repair inside: see our drywall repair and water damage repair price guides, and our Safety Harbor post on soffit and fascia wind damage.
Who's licensed to do it
Florida law puts "any repair or replacement of wood roof sheathing or fascia as needed during roof repair or replacement" in the roofing contractor's scope (s. 489.105(3)(e), Fla. Stat.), and a contractor must subcontract roofing work unless it holds a roofing certificate or registration (s. 489.113(3)). Soffit and fascia damage without roof work can be repaired by a licensed general contractor. The law also lets a local government continue to offer a license for "veneer, including aluminum or vinyl gutters, siding, soffit, or fascia" if it had that licensing requirement before January 1, 2021 (s. 489.117(4)(a)3.).
Permits in Pinellas County
Pinellas County's page on the July 1, 2026 exemption for work under $7,500 lists soffit/fascia among its examples, but the page covers unincorporated Pinellas County, and the state law excludes flood hazard areas and structural, electrical, plumbing, mechanical or gas work (s. 553.79(1)(g)). The exemption has to be requested in writing. Cities set their own rules: St. Petersburg's Building Permits page lists soffit and fascia among the structural components its exemption doesn't cover, and Safety Harbor sends roofs and re-roofs to the county. Check with your city's building department before work starts.
Pinellas notes
A University of Florida report for the Florida Building Commission says wind load resistance requirements for soffits weren't codified in Florida until 2006. In Safety Harbor, for example, Census estimates put about nine in ten homes before 2000, with a median year built of 1984.
