Sliding glass door repair and replacement in Clearwater and Pinellas County
A slider that drags, jumps the track, won't lock or leaks when the rain blows sideways. We repair sliding glass doors across Clearwater, St. Petersburg and the rest of Pinellas County, and when a door is past saving, we replace it with a Florida-approved door and pull the permit.
Glides easy. Locks tight.
How we handle it.
Worn rollers replaced, bent or dirty tracks cleaned and straightened, and handles, latches and locks repaired or replaced so the door slides and locks the way it should.
Weatherstripping, sill seals and weep holes checked and fixed, and rotted frames or subfloor around the door repaired before they get worse.
Replacement glass in a sliding door has to be safety glazing with a permanent label (FBC-Residential R308.4.1 and R308.1; FBC-Existing Building 402.2). We order the right glass for your panel.
Replacement doors carry Florida product approval or local approval (s. 553.842, 553.8425), are designed for your home's wind pressures (FBC-Existing Building 707.4), and are installed with the permit your building department requires.
Five-star reviews.
Outstanding workmanship, highly recommended for your small to large projects. Dependable, reliable and very aware of the customer vision. Patrick will be our go to man with all our home improvement. His service are well worth the price which are indeed very affordable. ( Excellent job installing pre-hung door )
Patrick and Dylan are very honest men and very trustworthy honesty goes a long way with these guys they install the best weather proof windows and blinds for me as well very professional and very respectful and knowledgeable kind and clean up after they are done really respectfully to you and your family and home
Patrick & Dylan do absolutely amazing work and cannot speak highly enough of them. I hired them initially for a full kitchen remodel, which included doubling the size of the kitchen, taking out walls, window install, masonry, paintwork, tile work, and more. I have also had them back since for door installs, tile work, windows, and other odd jobs.
Their quotes are extremely fair for the large scope of work they offer, and have never had a single occurrence of being nickel & dimed as a project went on. They set their prices and schedule up front with the signed project scope/payment schedule and have been amazingly prompt, courteous, and accommodating with every project. The attention to detail, time to planning & execution, and final outcomes are genuinely top tier.
In short, hire Patrick & Dylan, they are bar none the most personable & top notch guys I've ever hired to take on jobs for me.
Patrick came to finish a kitchen pantry that 2 other contractors started and couldn't complete. He hung the door, the jam and trim and it looks great! He was friendly, professional, worked quickly and cleaned up afterwards. Keeping his number for any future projects we need help with.
Common questions.
Do I need a permit to replace a sliding glass door in Clearwater?
Yes. Clearwater's permit list includes "replacement of windows, doors, garage doors or skylights in existing or altered wall openings," and licensed contractors submit door permits online. The city asks for the Florida product approval or NOA numbers with the application. In unincorporated Pinellas County, express permit applications can include Florida product approval numbers, and homeowners can apply in person.
Do I need a permit to repair sliding door rollers or the track?
The Florida Building Code lets ordinary minor repairs be made without a permit with the building official's approval (FBC-Building 105.2.2). No Pinellas city list we found names door roller or track repair, so ask your building department if you're unsure. Replacing the whole door is different and needs a permit.
Does replacement glass in a sliding door have to be tempered?
It has to be safety glazing. The Florida Building Code treats glass in sliding door panels as a hazardous location (FBC-Residential R308.4.1), replacement glass in hazardous locations must meet the safety glazing rules (FBC-Existing Building 402.2), and each pane needs a permanent label (R308.1).
Does a new sliding glass door need to be impact-rated?
Replacement doors have to meet the wind requirements of the Florida Building Code (FBC-Existing Building 707.4). For one- and two-family homes in windborne debris regions built under codes other than the Florida Building Code, replaced glazing within any 12 months that totals no more than 25% of the home's glazed area doesn't need opening protection, though it must still be designed for the wind pressures; beyond that, impact glass or shutters are required. St. Petersburg's window and door form says new windows there must have shutters or impact glass. Your building department decides how this applies.
Can I use the under-$7,500 permit exemption for a sliding door?
Not in St. Petersburg, which excludes window and door replacement from the exemption as structural work, and Clearwater's exemption request portal doesn't list doors. Plan on a permit for a replacement door.
How much does sliding glass door repair cost?
